BA Hons Primary Mathematics Education with QTS from Edge Hill University

I am a teacher from Manchester, England and trained to teach at Edge Hill University. I have 5 years teaching experience both at home in the UK and in Doha. I have taught across Early Years and Key Stage 1 where I have had the privilege of supporting children to learn, develop and grow at the beginning of their school journey.

3 years' teaching experience

Originally from the North East of England, I studied and lived in London for seven years. Formerly, I was a Production Manager for several, large-scale international festivals and theatre productions. Alongside academic subjects, I have an enormous desire to introduce children to the arts.

7 years' experience

In 2012, I studied Primary Education with Geography at St Mary’s University, Belfast. After I graduated in 2016, I moved to Qatar and worked in Newton British Academy for five years as an EYFS Teacher, Team Leader and whole school NQT Mentor. In 2021, I moved to Nord Anglia as a Primary Teacher and whole school RWI support lead.

5 years' experience

I have previously taught in the UK for 2 years as an early years primary teacher working with children from multicultural backgrounds. Before moving to Qatar I taught in Shanghai for a year as a kindergarten teacher. This provided me with a great opportunity to immerse myself in the local culture and create a learning environment that relates to the real world. I am extremely excited to be joining USI to collaborate and learn alongside other skilled practitioners within a fantastic school. I have a passion for fostering a love for learning within my classroom.

I am from Essex in the UK but have been living in Qatar for 6 years now. I have taught in 2 schools in Qatar so far working in Years 1, 2 and 3 during my time here.

Originally from Ireland, I have studied and lived in Manchester during the first few years of my teaching career. I have experience in EYFS, KS1 and LKS2 and also have an Early Years specialism.

Qualifications

• BEd Top Up Route with QTS - Newman University in Birmingham. Modules included; School Experience, The Independent Researcher ( where I completed a dissertation on Mindfulness), Leading Learning in an Area of Specialism, Creative Curriculum Approaches, Language Learning and the Wider Community, Creative Mathematics and Primary Physical Processes.

• Higher Diploma of Education - Strathclyde University in Glasgow. Modules included; School Experience, Language, Mathematics, Teaching and Learning, Expressive Arts, Professional Development Planning, Religious and Moral Education and Technology.

13 years' experience

My work experience includes a decade within an educational setting; fulfilling roles that range from teaching and learning support assistant to full time teacher and ultimately middle leader. The age groups I have taught vary from KS1 to upper KS2 and to have the opportunity to teach Year 4 is an exciting new beginning and a prospect that enthuses me.

I have 4 years’ experience with 2 years being in the UK and 2 years in Doha. I have been fortunate enough to teach across both KS1 and KS2 whilst gaining leadership experience along the way. I am delighted to become apart of the USI team and feel very privileged to be part of a wonderful school community. I am most looking forward to utilizing the fabulous facilities here in USI to help broaden and enrich children’s education.

I studied Primary Education with QTS at University of Wales before relocating to Doha in 2019. Since then, I have taught in Key Stage 1 and 2 within British curriculum schools in Qatar. I am really looking forward to using my experience to create positive relationships with the USI community and provide the best possible education for my pupils.

I'm from a small town called Newtownbutler in Ireland. I first taught in Hammersmith, London where I obtained my NQT status. After this, I moved to Qatar where I have now been teaching for 5 years. I have taught both Key Stages and have loved working with all age groups. I enjoy teaching as every day is different!

I am from Ireland, and obtained my first degree in Liberal Arts with Physical Education at Queen’s University, Belfast. I then furthered my education and completed my Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Education at Edge Hill, Liverpool. On completion of my degrees, I was delighted to accept my first teaching post in Doha, Qatar. I have taught within both Key Stages and have gained valuable experience. It has been exciting to be one of the founding members of USI, and part of a culturally diverse community that is passionate about helping each child progress in all areas of their development.

With eight years of experience as a qualified teacher working in the UK, I continue to be passionate about sharing my knowledge and skills to develop the minds of the next generation. I always strive to do the best for my students and pride myself in creating an environment that has a love of learning. I am thoroughly excited to continue my teaching journey with USI and develop myself professionally and personally in Qatar.
