My name is Katy Boyle and I am originally from Ireland. I have been living and working in Qatar for the last 8 years and have taught a range of year groups across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. I love teaching in an international setting and aim to provide the best educational experience for the students.

After graduating from Sheffield Hallam University with a degree in Primary Education, I worked in various year groups in a Primary school in York for 3 years. Since then, I have moved to Qatar and taught in a British Curriculum school and lead the Year 5 team for 3 years to accomplish great results!

This is my tenth year in teaching, and nine of those years have been teaching here in Doha. Before teaching in Doha, I trained and taught in inner-city London. I have held previous leadership positions in education, some of which include Teaching and Learning Coordinator, Development Leader, and I was also the lead mentor for newly qualified teachers.

I am from the North-West of England and have 10 years experience of teaching in the UK, South East Asia and the Middle East. I am excited to be part of a new, modern school which is based in a remarkable part of Qatar. A school that possesses excellent resources to engage the children in a holistic, fun and meaningful learning experience.

Teaching experience: 8 years

I was born in the UK and spent my childhood both in London and in India, before relocating to Qatar in 2018. I completed my teacher training through the Teach First programme at the Institute of Education, London in 2012.

Since completing my teacher training, I have gained extensive experience in primary education across both Key Stage 1 and 2. I am passionate about providing my pupils with the skills and knowledge they need, not only to succeed academically, but also in order to grow and develop into happy, kind, confident, and emotionally aware individuals.

I have also worked outside of the education sector, first as a management consultant in London and later as a programme manager for an anti-corruption organization in Qatar. I have been shortlisted twice for the Economist’s Nico Colchester political writing prize, have served as sub-editor of the Cambridge University Journal of Politics, and have also been shortlisted for the UK Wildlife Photographer of the Year award.

I enjoy cycling, photography, badminton, and playing guitar for my two daughters.

I graduated in 2017 with a 4-year BA primary teaching degree, specialising in SEN from Liverpool Hope University, England. I then worked as a Year 1 class teacher and completed my NQT year in Liverpool, England. Since moving to Doha in 2018, I first taught in Year 1 for three years before moving to teach in Year 5 as the Team Leader for both Year 5 and 6. I am from Ireland - I love travelling the world and experiencing new cultures. I am very excited to be joining the USI community and I cannot wait to meet my new class.

I have worked as a teacher in Scotland for the last 15 years and have taught at all stages of the primary school curriculum. More recently, I have led the delivery of a new film education syllabus as part of my promoted post as an Inspire Cluster Support teacher. This role focuses on integrating technology to enhance teaching and learning whilst developing digital literacy in schools.

Originally from Pretoria, South Africa, I arrived in Qatar in 2016 as a Primary School teacher. Witnessing how English fluency helped children make incredible progress, both socially and academically, inspired me to undertake my TEFL qualification so I could better understand how to help every child learn as much as possible.

Originally from Northamptonshire, UK, I completed my degree and PGCE in Lincoln before moving to London. I taught in a 3 form entry school in London for almost 3 years before moving back to Northamptonshire where I taught a mixed age class and led Maths. I really look forward to joining the team at USI, meeting my new class and experiencing all that Qatar has to offer (including the sun).

My passions include advocating student voice, growth mindset and imbedding environmental awareness into the curriculum.

I have first-hand experience working in Qatar, having lived here for 4 years. Working at diverse, inner-city schools has made my teaching style adaptable and engaging to all students. I have extensive knowledge of the curriculum and use an array of delivery methods where I am able to challenge all abilities. I have really enjoyed developing fantastic relationships with the students at USI.

I worked for ten years in Primary and Middle schools in the north-east of England and on the Isle of Wight. I have had a previous short experience of teaching here in Qatar, but before back her last year I was at an Orbital School, EIS Moscow, where I taught in Year 5 for 3 years. Whilst I have a strong background in education I have also acquired life and work experiences in other sectors such as retail and travel. However, I have really enjoyed returning to Qatar to continue teaching in an international environment and in such a beautiful school!
