In a landmark event at USI, history was made on December 11, 2023, as the school's first-ever Student Council was elected through a democratic and engaging process.
Students were not only asked to present their visions and goals but also actively participated in choosing their representatives.
As part of the selection process, candidates for the Student Council were given the opportunity to present their ideas and plans to their peers in various classrooms. Each aspiring representative passionately articulated their visions for the school, outlining the positive changes and improvements they aimed to bring.
After the presentations, the student body participated in a vote to select one representative from each class. Then, it was time to select a dedicated year group representative, forming the inaugural Student Council.
The elected students were presented with certificates and adorned with Student Council badges in a ceremony attended by the esteemed Head Boy, Head Girl, and Deputy Head Boy. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as the school community witnessed the birth of this vital student leadership body.
The Student Council members will undertake various responsibilities aimed at improving the overall school experience. Some of their key duties include acting as a liaison between students and USI staff, advocating for student concerns, and organising and participating in school events and community service projects. The council will also play a crucial role in fostering a positive and inclusive school culture.
The establishment of the Student Council marks a significant step towards fostering student leadership and empowerment at USI. As these young leaders take on their roles, they embark on a journey to make a lasting impact on their school and contribute to a vibrant and thriving academic community.
