A Celebration of Diplomacy and Global Citizenship

Last Month, USI students delivered magnificent performances at the WSQMUN (Wellington School Qatar Model United Nations), showcasing not only their diplomatic skills but also the transformative impact of MUN on student growth and development.

USI’s MUN Team had performed exceptionally well on various topical debates surrounding the theme of Empowering Women in Leadership which is rooted and inspired by the principle of gender equality across all areas of society.

At WSQMUN, Vasil Kosanov and Leia El Kadi stood out as delegates within their committee’s by winning the Honourable Mention awards. The entire Team USI impressed with powerful speeches, informative motions, and well-rounded resolutions crafted in collaboration with international representatives. Their ability to work across cultures and ideologies highlights the global perspective that MUN instills in young leaders.

Outstanding contributions also came from Fiza Shaik, Yelizaveta Iralde , Ali Fakhri, Nathalie Massoud, Tio Aliu, Adelia Hutabarat, whose dedication and diplomacy enriched the conference. Each student demonstrated resilience, creativity, and teamwork—hallmarks of the MUN experience.

Model United Nations (MUN) is more than a simulation of international diplomacy—it is a platform that nurtures critical thinking, public speaking, collaboration, and leadership. Through engaging debates, drafting resolutions, and negotiating with peers from around the world, students develop confidence, cultural awareness, and problem-solving skills that prepare them for real-world challenges. As MUN continues to grow in popularity, its impact on students is undeniable: improved communication skills, enhanced confidence, and a deeper understanding of global issues.

For USI, these achievements are a testament to the school’s commitment to fostering future leaders who can think critically and act responsibly on the world stage.
