The Opportunity
You will oversee the emotional, mental, physical, and social health of students and also manage students who have chronic health conditions and students with disabilities in addition to treating injuries and mild to acute sicknesses. This includes giving them medication as needed and working with parents and teachers to create and enforce care plans.
You will also help with preventive care by educating students on how to avoid communicable diseases and having proper hygiene in addition to developing healthcare initiatives for the school.
You will need to provide first aid or emergency care to sick and injured students, ensure that all medical supplies and equipment needed for first aid and emergency care are available and in working condition in the school clinic, assess needs of the students who require first aid care and administer it as appropriate.
Other major responsibilities of the role include assisting in conducting medical examination to the students, assessing them to detect early signs and symptoms of health problems which will affect learning; planning, implementing and evaluating health education programmes for students; in addition to maintaining and submitting necessary records, reports and knowledge as per guidelines.
Person Specification
In particular, candidates should meet the following technical profile:
• Qualified to practice as a Registered Nurse in Qatar
• Certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) training
• Demonstrate the required level of knowledge and skills appropriate to the position
• A sound working knowledge of principles and practices underlying professional nursing as well as School health
• Knowledge of local legislation relating to health and social issues
• At least two (2) years of relevant working experience in public health nursing, community health nursing, School health nursing or pediatric nursing
• Previous Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) experience is preferred
• Working experience in an international school or tertiary education environment is preferred
In addition, the personal qualities we are looking for include:
• Proactive, enthusiastic, ambitious and energetic person.
• Flexibility to work outside of office hours when required.
• IT skills to include: Advanced Excel, Proficient use of Word, Powerpoint, Outlook.
