The Opportunity
The role is due to start from August 2024.

You will be primarily responsible for the management and development, promotion and evaluation of an effective learning resource and information service which supports learning and teaching across the school.

You will be responsible for organizing and managing the library, ensuring its effective use by classes, groups and individuals; all the while complying the MOEHE regulations on provision of library books and resources; as well as creating and implementing a policy for the library which incorporates the educational aims and objectives of the school, and complies with data protection, copyright, health and safety legislation and the school's disciplinary code.

You will be contributing to curriculum and policy development by liaising with all departments, in addition to liaising with individual members of the teaching and learning support staff. This, in addition to selecting, acquiring, organizing and promoting Library resources to support teaching and learning throughout the school.

Person Specification
In particular, candidates should meet the following technical profile:

  • Degree in Library Science or equivalent
  • Previous experience within an education setting or similar is desirable.
  • Flexibility, curiosity, enthusiasm, and an extensive knowledge of young adult literature.
  • Strong knowledge of content area, teaching methods, learning styles and educational research related learners and readers.
  • An understanding of the scope and the sequence of library and information literacy curriculum.
  • Experience in evaluating and selecting print and digital resources with a commitment to equity and inclusion.

In addition, the personal qualities we are looking for include:

  • Proactive, enthusiastic, ambitious and energetic person.
  • Flexibility to work outside of office hours when required.
  • IT skills to include: Advanced Excel, Proficient use of Word, Powerpoint, Outlook.

About the School
United School International is a newly founded school on the prestigious Pearl Development in Doha, Qatar, a residential development reclaimed from the Arabian Gulf. Because of its position, its beautiful architecture and facilities, the Pearl is one of the most desirable locations for both expatriate and local Qatar families in the city. There is a combination of spacious high-rise apartments and luxurious villas currently housing a population of 33,000. When finally completed in two years’ time this will have risen to around 50,000.

United School International is the first and probably only school to be built on the Pearl, providing education for children within the local community.
