I have been teaching drama in Birmingham for the past 6 years with various roles leading departments and faculties, with my latest role being the Director of Learning for Creatives Arts. USI’s vision of instilling in the young people the core values of kindness, respect, passion for learning and the pursuit of excellence is something I also believe that every young person should have within them. I’m excited to be involved in USI’s journey as an Assistant Head and I'm eager to begin ensuring that our staff are well equipped in supporting our young people to unlock their full potential and achieve their dreams.

I previously worked in the UK teaching the British Curriculum for four years before moving to Qatar; I gained experience as Second in English and had the opportunity to take on the role of Subject Leader in English whilst teaching in a British school in Doha. Throughout my teaching career I have taught KS3, GCSE, A Level English Language and IB Diploma that has provided me with a wealth of experience.

I have spent many years working with young people - from my previous career as a Project Manager setting up Youth Clubs, forums and charity fundraisers, to teaching English (British Curriculum) to Key Stages 3 and 4 in the UK and Qatar. My passion for working with young people has flourished, through the years, with my role as Literacy Lead and promoting Youth Leadership.

I have been teaching secondary mathematics for 6 years including GCSEs, iGCSES and A levels. I have worked closely with the NCETM association for mastery in mathematics. Before teaching, I worked as head of mechanical design in industry in the UK for several years. Developing a robust and engaging learning environment to enable students to gain the skills they need to start meaningful careers.

I am from Ireland. I have spent the last eight years teaching in Qatar. In the first four years, I taught Year 6. For the last four years, I have taught KS3-5 History and KS4 Global Citizenship. I was the Deputy Head of the Humanities Department in my previous school for two years.

I have been teaching IGCSE, A Level and IB in international schools in Kuwait, Shanghai, and Doha since 2011. I specialise in textiles and printmaking and have extensive teaching experience in fine arts, sculpture and fashion. I have a personal interest in theatre set design having done voluntary work for the Kuwait Youth Theatre. I really enjoy sharing my passion of art and love of learning with the USI community.

9 years' experience

I have been teaching at KS3 level in Qatar since 2016. I specialise in Ceramic design and have extensive experience in teaching fine arts and design. I have also previously taught English to year 7 and 8 as well as GCSE level in South Africa. I have been head of KS3 and worked in management over the past 7 years, in Qatar. I am also an accredited dialogue works trainer for philosophy for children. I have a keen interest in the arts and enjoy working with young people to develop their creative skills. I look forward to sharing my passion and love for learning with you all.

12 years' teaching experience

I began my teaching career as a secondary Spanish and French teacher in the UK before moving to Spain for three years to teach English across all key stages. I have spent the past seven years as a Spanish teacher, leading a primary Modern Foreign Languages department in Doha. I am very passionate about teaching and learning and always looking for ways to make lessons more fun, engaging and accessible to all.

I was born in Mexico but moved to the United States when I was 13 years old. I have been in the field of education since 2011 as a Bilingual teacher assistant. Spanish is my first language and I learned English as a teenager. I am excited about the opportunity to work with students from all over the world.

I have been teaching in various capacities since 2019. I studied at the University of Stirling and Manchester Metropolitan University. I am South African born but have lived in various countries which has allowed me to devote my life to the study of languages.

Born and raised in Canada, I grew up in a multilingual environment that valued cultural exchanges. French is my native language and I learned English and Spanish as part of my education. I came to Qatar in 2018 and have worked in various international schools since. I am excited to be part of USI's team and to share my passion for languages and its surrounding cultures.

Qualifications

Master’s in French Studies ( Literature, Civilization, Second Language Acquisition and Teacher Education) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

I have been teaching on an off since 2012 to students ranging from kindergarten up to university level, in both regular French and bilingual programmes, in France, the USA, China and Qatar. I love teaching and look forward to contributing to the further development of the “Francophonie” in Qatar. I am also always on the lookout for new opportunities to progress and learn in my field and feel very happy to collaborate with USI’s team in this regard.

Having started my career teaching in Sheffield, I moved to Doha in 2018 where I have been a Head of 6th Form and a teacher of all Sciences to IGCSE and Physics to A-level. My passion is for science pedagogy; I love designing and researching new ways to model scientific concepts to help students learn more about how things work. I love seeing our students learning about the world around us in our state-of-the-art laboratories. We are privileged to have such an amazing space in which to learn and I want to see fire, bubbles and microscopes as our students get to grips with what it means to be a scientist!
