BA (Hons) in Design, from the University of East Anglia and University of Essex.
PGCE from the University of Essex.

I have been teaching IGCSE, A Level and IB in international schools in Kuwait, Shanghai, and Doha since 2011. I specialise in textiles and printmaking and have extensive teaching experience in fine arts, sculpture and fashion. I have a personal interest in theatre set design having done voluntary work for the Kuwait Youth Theatre. I really enjoy sharing my passion of art and love of learning with the USI community.

I have been in education for the last 13 years, teaching in the UK. I have undertaken various roles, including Head of department, Faculty Head, Head of Key stage, whole school PSHE and Director of creative Arts. I am excited to use my experience to support the students at USI.

12 years' teaching experience

I began my teaching career as a secondary Spanish and French teacher in the UK before moving to Spain for three years to teach English across all key stages. I have spent the past seven years as a Spanish teacher, leading a primary Modern Foreign Languages department in Doha. I am very passionate about teaching and learning and always looking for ways to make lessons more fun, engaging and accessible to all.

Originally from Sardinia, Italy, I lived in the UK for 17 years. I have built up my teaching experience within several public and private institutions in London. I have experience of teaching Spanish, Italian, and French, across all Key Stages, and also to EAL students. I firmly believe that languages equip students with not only the ability to communicate, but also with life skills and values such as the tolerance, open-mindedness, and the ability to embrace differences.

Born and raised in Canada, I grew up in a multilingual environment that valued cultural exchanges. French is my native language and I learned English and Spanish as part of my education. I came to Qatar in 2018 and have worked in various international schools since. I am excited to be part of USI's team and to share my passion for languages and its surrounding cultures.

I finished my two year ECT training at Rooks Heath School as a Secondary Drama and English Teacher, where I was recently promoted to a KS3 Drama Coordinator lead. I am a Drama with English BA Graduate from Loughborough University, where I completed a nine-month placement in Germany (2017) as an English Language Assistant. I was then a Learning Support Assistant at The Crest Academy for two years (2019) and decided to complete my PGCE English and Drama at UCL (IoE) soon after.

4 years' experience

Having performed within a number of award winning choirs across Ireland, I began studying music education in my hometown of Limerick. Upon completing my degree, I arrived in Qatar to help foster a lifelong love of music in the next generation of musicians. My main instruments are vocals, guitar, ukulele and recorder.

After completing my BA I pursued a different career and I joined the Royal Marine Commandos. I take great pride in my versatile background that has taught me core values that I try to incorporate into lessons and inspire in students. Within my lessons I love to learn through game play so that we can learn from the mistakes we make and correct them in order to improve ourselves as athletes and prepare how to face adversity in life.

10 years experience

After completing my BA and PGCE, I taught for 7 years at a fantastic school in the UK, with an extra-curricular programme that was second to none. I have taught across all key stages as well as obtaining middle leadership roles along the way such as PiXL Edge and completing my school’s middle leadership programme. I completed my MA in Education alongside my teaching commitments, with emphasis on GCSE Physical Education. I love making great use of the exceptional, state-of-the-art, facilities that we have at USI, as well as helping to further develop this school in to an outstanding environment for all of our students and the wider community to thrive in.

I am a passionate and driven educator and have previously taught both PE and GCSE Psychology in London and Qatar. I pride myself on my strong working relationships and rapport with my students. I have a great understanding of the importance of social, emotional and moral development in both PE and wider school life. As an experienced pastoral leader and Qatar National woman’s rugby player, I also know the importance of teamwork, resilience and ambition.
