I am from a small town in County Armagh in Ireland. I have played a range of sports, but I am currently a member of the Qatar GAA team. I have previously been a primary school teacher alongside being PE Lead, so I am enjoying on having my sole focus on PE at USI.

I have a strong passion for all sports, particularly swimming, as I have represented my country, competing overseas at numerous age levels. I have been teaching in Qatar since 2016 and my enthusiasm and experience has given me the opportunity to work with like-minded professionals. I enjoy conducting extra-curricular activities, and leading overseas school trips which have given children different cultural lifelong experiences. I love creating an environment where children can flourish and develop to their full sporting potential.

Following a career in the outdoor education industry, I returned to study in Scotland where I gained my degree in Sport and Exercise Science and post graduate in Secondary PE teaching. I have worked with young people across primary, secondary and further education settings and enjoy nothing more than sharing my passion for sport, health and fitness with others.

I began teaching as a High School English and Drama teacher in Australia and later became Head of Middle School. I moved to the UK in 2013 and taught English Language/Literature at GCSE and A-Level. I moved to a SENCO role in 2015 and then Head of KS4 for an SEN provision in London, before moving to Doha with my family in 2022.

With 8 years of international teaching experience across Australia, France, and Qatar, I have a diverse educational background. Currently, in Qatar, I have accepted a leadership role with British Scouting Overseas, fostering community and leadership in young students. I have a passion for education and cultural exchange and am dedicated to ensuring the achievement of student growth and global awareness.

After completing my English degree in the UK, I decided to pursue my dream to become a teacher. I then completed my PGCE with QTS at The University of Birmingham. In the first 2 years of my teaching journey I taught Year 3. After teaching in the UK, I moved to Doha for an exciting opportunity to teach in such a beautiful country. I really enjoy forming relationships with the USI community. I am excited to bring my experiences from both the UK and Qatar and implement them into my teaching to inspire the young people in my care.

I am a calm and organised primary teacher who has taught in reputable schools in London. I have been in Qatar for 6 years. I have taught in EYFS, and Key Stages 1 and 2. My previous positions of responsibility include Key Stage 1 Lead, Data Manager, Numicon Lead and Whole School EAL Lead. I enjoy working in leadership as I can positively affect more students and contribute to the wider success of the school. I am committed to having high expectations of our students and I am excited to work collaboratively with parents too. I use my specialism in developing a growth mindset to support our students who are learning English as an additional language to achieve their full potential.
